We have had some insane rain over the last few weeks and of course what shows up? A giant puddle of water in the basement. The trim down there had not yet gone in so no flooring or trim work was damaged. We were of course very concerned about drywall damage and the potential for mold. The PM had his boss come in, along with ServPro and dry out the basement. Damage was assessed and the source of the leaks was now the focus. The seals were all checked and it was determined that because power had not yet been turned on and the sump not on the water overflowed the sump. They have gotten power to the sump and it is now in working order. I have run over a few other days after heavy down pours and the basement was dry. Yay! This gives us an indication that a back up generator in the event of an outage is a must. There is obviously the potential for flooding with out it.
